The capital of Liechtenstein is Vaduz. It is situated along the Rhine River. The city is rather unique because older buildings stand next to more recent Gothic, and Baroque structures. While visiting Liechtenstein, many tourists travel to the city of Vaduz to see Vaduz Castle. It is located on the outskirts of the city and is a residence of the Royal family. The remnants of the Wildschloss tower attract the attention of many tourists from all over the world. During tours in Vaduz the Town Hall and Square must also be visited.
Triesen, the village area in the southern part of Vaduz, is famous of ancient houses, Saint Mamertus and Virgin Mary chapels. National Museum of Liechtenstein will be interested for those who are fond of various collections and historical documentation. The exhibits display cultural and natural historical objects, archaeology, Middle Ages, ethnic studies, and natural history of the country and its regions. There are 42 exhibition rooms with a separate hall for the kids. One of the most visited places of Liechtenstein is Birka Bird Paradise (bird observatory), where rare birds, plants and amphibians are on display. Liechtenstein is known in the world as one of the most favorite ski resort (the best is located in Malbun). Next to Vaduz the largest city in Liechtenstein Schaan is situated. The major attraction of the city is Theater Kirchplatz, where a drama, ballet, opera, cabaret, pantomime shows are performed. There are many Roman old buildings, churches and cathedrals in the city. The St. Maria Trost Chapel is one of the most visited. Balzers can boast having such sights as Gutenberg Castle, the chapels of Mariahilf and St. Peter, an old presbytery, and a local museum. The Gutenberg Castle, the symbol of Balzers, is a magical and mysterious place.
